Support from your school

Support from your school

Your child’s teacher, principal and other school staff can help you support your child’s attendance.

Ensuring every child attends every day is a priority for teachers and support staff. They understand how important it is to enable children to learn and achieve.

If you need extra support, they can work with you, your child and your family to strengthen their attendance. They can also help you access support from your community, government agencies or community organisations.  Working together with your school means that attendance issues can be detected early and resolved.

If you would like help, talk to your child’s teacher, principal or a staff member about your child’s situation. They understand there is a range of factors that influence a child's ability or desire to go to school. When they understand your child's unique needs, they can then provide you with tailored advice and support.

Find out how you can build a good relationship with your child’s school so you can work together to support your child.

Support is also available from your regional office. Contact their staff to find out about services to support your child’s attendance.
