We are proud to be the largest employer in WA, and with over 800 public schools across the state, there are many exciting and rewarding career options.

Our free live chats and information sessions have been developed for pre-service, graduate and experienced teachers wanting to learn more about teaching in a public school.

Remote teaching

Remote Teaching Service information session

Join us for our online information session about teaching in a remote public school. You will find out about allowances, housing and relocation assistance for remote teachers. There will be a question-and-answer section with a panel of experts. You will get to chat with:

  • a current principal of a remote public school
  • staff in our Teach in WA and Aboriginal Education Teaching and Learning teams.

We will also guide you through the application process.

Explore the unique opportunities of working and living in our remote communities.

Career expos and events

Skillswest Careers Expo

Dates and times: Thursday 25 July 2024 to Saturday 27 July 2024, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Location: Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre, Perth, WA.

The Department of Education will be an exhibitor at Skillswest Careers Expo 2024. Whether you're a school student, studying at university, or seeking a career change, visit us at booth 76. Our booth features a fun, interactive game that can tell you what education career is right for you, based on your interests. Teacher ambassadors and workforce experts will be there to answer questions and discuss career opportunities and pathways.

East Kimberley Employment and Careers Expo

Dates and times: Thursday 25 July 2024 from 12:00 pm to 6:00 pm and Friday 26 July 2024 from 8:00 am to 2:30 pm.

Location: Kununurra Leisure Centre, Kununurra, WA.

If you live in Kununurra, visit our team at the East Kimberley Employment and Careers Expo. Our workforce experts will be there to answer questions and talk with you about career opportunities and pathways.

Graduate Teacher Career Evening 2024

Date and time: Tuesday 6 August 2024, 5 pm to 8 pm
Location: Department of Education, 151 Royal Street, East Perth, WA

If you've graduated with a teaching degree in 2023 or 2024 or will graduate in Semester 2 2024, join us for an in-person event designed exclusively for graduate teachers like you! You'll meet with public school staff, workforce experts and our teacher support team members. The event will include breakout sessions on curriculum vitae (CV) writing, job application writing, teaching in regional WA and more!

St Thomas More College Careers Fair

Date and time: Friday 2 August 2024 from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.

Entry and Orientation program for returning teachers

The Entry and Orientation program is a 2-day program designed to support teachers starting with the Department of Education after returning from long leave, interstate or overseas positions.

Participants will develop an understanding of current best practices in Western Australian public schools.
