Preparing your application
All applicants are advised to carefully read how to apply and what information is required in the application. For example, you may be required to attach a CV, and specific documents relating to your qualifications and eligibility for the position.
You can find out more about the school you are applying to by visiting Schools Online. You will need to demonstrate your competency against the three domains of teaching that govern the Australian Professional Standards for Teachers. Tailor your application for each school to show that you meet the needs and requirements specified in the advertisement.
Public school principals wishing to appoint graduate teachers may identify suitable applicants from the Graduate Teacher pool.
Register with the Teachers Registration Board of Western Australia (TRB) as early as possible and then apply to the Graduate Teacher Pool. Include all required information when you first apply:
- tax invoice from the TRB
- academic transcripts (web print outs of current courses are sufficient)
- proof of residency and/or eligibility to work in Australia
- current resume containing the contact details for two referees.
In addition to applying to our Graduate teacher pool, you should also apply directly for teaching positions advertised by public schools.
Be flexible - applying widely increases your chances of gaining employment. Teaching in a rural, regional or remote school offers you added benefits and allowances.
