Jacqueline Barry
Principal
Onslow Primary School
Specialising in strategic leadership at Onslow Primary School, Jacqueline developed a strategic plan which set targets for student improvement, engaged staff in a shared vision of school improvement and aimed to increase student performance. Jacqueline additionally reviewed and implemented performance management processes in line with teaching competencies and the dimensions of leadership to support staff in meeting school and system requirements.
Jacqueline received the WA Education Award for Aboriginal Education during her time as Principal at Yulga Jinna Remote Community School in 2002 to 2004.
For her change management project, Jacqueline explored the topic of Teacher Mobility. The purpose of this project was to recognise ongoing complexities in facilitating teaching mobility in regional and remote schools. The objectives of this project aimed to identify strategies and incentives that would increase pre-service teacher attraction to public education, and graduate teacher commencement and retention in regional and remote schools (beyond three years).
