Information for schools

Find information about coordinating the Interm Swimming program at your school and help to submit your school's preferences.

We are conducting a comprehensive swimming and water safety education program in 2024 and offer your school the opportunity to include interm swimming lessons in your Health and Physical Education program.

To find out more about the Interm Swimming program, refer to Interm Swimming operational information.

Interm swimming lessons operate across the state with the majority of programs conducted at swimming pools. Some lessons are held at the beach or open water venues where possible.

Find the 2023 interm swimming dates and locations list.

To find what’s available at your preferred venue (or venues), refer to Venues operating in 2024.
Public schools and rural and remote non-government schools
We meet the cost of interm swimming lessons for all primary students in public schools and for primary students in remote and rural non-government schools.

Metropolitan non-government schools
The program is also available to primary students in metropolitan non-government schools on a user pays basis. Refer to Metropolitan interm swimming non-government school conditions and invoicing rates.

You must submit a minimum of 2 series date preferences per term for all 4 terms:

  • this includes schools that prefer lessons at a beach venue in Term 1 or 4, submitting Term 2 and 3 preferences for their local indoor swimming pool
  • this does not include schools in locations where venues are only accessible for part of the year*. Identified schools will need to nominate two dates for each available term at their closest venue.

* To enable us to facilitate this change through WAIVS, we have classified schools in these locations as a ’Country school’.

When you select and submit your preferences consider the following information:
