Pre-service teaching opportunities

Pre-service teaching opportunities

Final year pre-service teachers can access the Casual Teacher and Pre-Service Teacher Fixed Term pools to teach in public schools across the state.

Casual Teacher Pool

Pre-service teachers in their final year of study can apply to our Casual Teacher Pool and work in public schools across WA. Casual and relief work can range from 3 hours to 4 weeks depending on your availability.

Eligibility criteria

To become a pre-service casual teacher you must:

  • be eligible to work in Australia
  • have a valid Working With Children (WWC) Check
  • be in the final year of your education degree (Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching) at an Australian university
  • show proof of completed professional experiences
  • fill in the application for limited registration (found in the job advertisement) and attach it to your Casual Teacher Pool application.

Once the Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia (TRBWA) grants your limited registration, you will be given access to the casual staff seeker tool to create a profile and update your availability and preferences. Schools can then contact you regarding casual teaching opportunities.
