Academic programs
Academic programs
Children with exceptional academic ability can take part in specialised programs designed to meet their advanced learning needs.
These programs provide a learning environment where students are encouraged to think deeply, solve complex problems and explore ideas in greater detail. Learning is adjusted to suit each student and may move at a faster pace, with more in-depth content than the regular curriculum.
The programs are available at selected public secondary schools across Western Australia, including metropolitan schools, regional schools and an online option. This allows families in different locations to access the program.
Students also have opportunities to learn outside the classroom. Depending on the school, this may include academic competitions, leadership activities, community involvement, university‑based learning and study experiences beyond school.
Students are offered a place in the program based on their results in the Academic Selective Entrance Test (ASET).
