A passionate educator, and mother of three, who has embraced the power of yoga, is encouraging students and parents to join community sessions to help improve physical health, wellbeing and focus.

Catherine Godfrey, teacher at Jolimont Primary School, recently started teaching yoga to reinforce the value of mindfulness and wellbeing, both at school and at home.

Jolimont Primary School students are taking part in yoga to reinforce the value of mindfulness and wellbeing.

The program reflects the school’s commitment and values to creating healthy habits that support not only individual wellbeing, but also build a stronger community.

“I believe deeply in the powerful connection between mind, body and learning,” Ms Godfrey said.

“This belief drives my passion for yoga, pilates and mindfulness for people of all ages.

“At Jolimont, I’m proud that we nurture these values through regular wellness opportunities.”

Ms Godfrey offers yoga open community sessions for students of all ages, and a dedicated staff pilates class every Monday afternoon.

“Teaching yoga to students not only shares a healthy habit, but it also gives them lifelong tools for handling stress, staying focused, and connecting with themselves,” she said.

“Involving the whole school community in yoga sessions brings deeper, long-lasting benefits and creates a more supportive environment for everyone.

Students have been enjoying their classes.

“Group yoga fosters unity, trust, and strengthens school spirit and emotional bonds.”

Barbara Iffla, Principal at Jolimont Primary School, voiced her excitement about the program saying Catherine’s enthusiasm for yoga and wellbeing has been infectious.

“We decided to open this up to the community as the impact has been so positive for health and wellbeing including calming, body strength, concentration and breathing,” Ms Iffla said.

“Our community has risen to the challenge of her commitment to health and wellbeing.”
