Regulation, review and funding of non-government schools.
We facilitate school education through our roles in school regulation and review.
These roles include:
- registering non-government schools and administering state government financial assistance
- approving alternatives to attending a non-government school in the compulsory years
- assessing community-based courses for endorsement
- regulating international school education providers
- advising the Minister for Education.
Our Non-Government School Regulation directorate (NGSR) administers the school registration and compliance functions of the Department in respect of Part 4 of the School Education Act 1999. You can read our Regulatory statement, which describes our regulatory role, purpose and method.
We may collect personal information:
- for overseeing the registration of non-government schools in Western Australia
- for non-government school planning
- in relation to exemptions from full-time schooling for children at Catholic and independent non-government schools.
To understand what personal information is collected and why, how it is used and shared, and your rights, refer to the Collection notice for non-government school regulation.
