Kent Street Senior High School student Chloe Ainsworth has won a cricketing opportunity of a lifetime.
The Year 12 student is the first in the school’s history to receive a WA Cricket contract while still studying, joining the 2023-2024 WA Women’s Squad alongside Kent Street alumni Piepa Cleary and Zoe Britcliffe.

Chloe said she can’t wait to pursue her passion as a career.
“It’s what I’ve been working towards ever since I knew I wanted to do this as a career and I’m so grateful for the opportunity,” Chloe said.
“I just love the competitive nature of the sport, being able to impact the game wherever you are and just being a part of a team.”
Chloe has achieved many goals on the cricket field, representing WA and Australia on the national stage and taking the first two wickets for her nation at the inaugural Women’s Under-19 T20 World Cup in South Africa this year.
The 17-year-old all-rounder is already a three-time winner of the Clare Papasergio Award for the most outstanding WA player in the under-18 national championships.
Kent Street is one of four public schools offering a specialist cricket program and has been doing so since 1988, producing several state players.
The school’s Head of Cricket David Aldridge said students in the program learn all aspects of the game, including technique and mental skills.
He said Chloe had stood out from a young age.
“We pride ourselves on producing good people who are able to give back to their cricket community, through playing, coaching, umpiring, scoring and volunteering,” Mr Aldridge said.
“We are so proud of Chloe. She has always been a hard worker and has turned heads throughout her time at school through her performances both on the field and off of it.
“To see Chloe make her debut at the WACA (Ground) late last year and then gain a state contract has been a great reward for years of hard work.”
