To apply for a job in a WA public school, you will need the relevant teacher qualifications and registration. Before you start your first day of work with us, you'll need to meet our requirements for employment eligibility.

There are several ways you can apply for a job.
Apply to be appointed as a graduate teacher
Public school principals can permanently employ graduate teachers.
Read the graduate teacher job advertisement and follow the steps to apply. To make it easier for you to apply, have the following documents ready:
- tax invoice from the Teacher Registration Board of WA, if you are in your final semester of study
- academic transcripts (you can use printouts of current courses)
- proof of residency or eligibility to work in Australia (or both)
- current resume with contact details for 2 referees.
The application process has 2 stages.
Stage 1 – assessment of eligibility
In stage 1, we will confirm your:
- identity
- eligibility to work in Australia
- qualifications
- teacher registration (either current or your ability to hold registration at the time of graduation and start of employment).
Stage 2 – assessment of suitability
In stage 2, principals will consider your suitability for specific graduate teacher vacancies in their school. You can be considered for vacancies where you have:
- selected the school in your location preferences
- nominated the teaching or learning area in your teaching preferences
- nominated the work fraction that matches the vacancy.
Principals may contact you to discuss vacancies in their school. Where a principal offers you a permanent position, it is subject to your meeting eligibility criteria before you start in the role. This includes completing your teaching qualification.
