Understand cut-off scores

Cut-offs are not set in advance. They depend on student results and the number of places available in each program. They become known when offers are generated and confirmed.

Student Total Standard Score (TSS) scores are ordered from highest to lowest for each preference. Offers are made from the top down until all places are filled. The cut-off score is the lowest TSS that qualified for an offer at that point in time.

Cut-off scores can change. This depends on:

  • how many students apply and their preferences
  • how students perform
  • how many places are available
  • how many offers are accepted or declined.

Round 2 academic program advice

We cannot give advice about Round 2 before 6 July. This is because Round 2 depends on responses to Round 1 offers.

After 6 July, you can contact us.

Note:

  • Advice is an estimate only and is not guaranteed.
  • Advice depends on your child’s score and the number of places available.

Languages program interview cut-off scores

The following table shows the final interview cut-off scores for Languages programs for the 2027 intake. These are the minimum scores needed to be invited to a Languages interview.

Your child must attend an interview to be considered for a place. An interview does not guarantee an offer. It is the final stage of the selection process.

Final languages interview cut-off scores
School Year 7 Year 9
Mount Lawley Senior High School 214.0 209.5
Rossmoyne Senior High School 231.0 230.0

Note:

  • Interviews take place before each round of offers.
  • Schools contact families to arrange interviews.
  • Students who meet or exceed the cut-off will be invited to interview.
  • Offers are based on Total Standard Score (TSS) (80%) and interview (20%).
  • These are final interviews for the 2027 intake.

Arts programs

Cut-off scores do not apply to Arts programs.

The Total Standard Score (TSS) is only one part of the Arts assessment and does not decide who moves to the next stage.
Progression is based on performance in the workshop or audition.

Note:

  • The TSS contributes 20% of the total Arts score.
  • Workshop or audition performance is the main factor.
  • Students must attend the workshop or audition to be considered.
