Understand current cut-off scores
Cut-offs are not set in advance. They depend on student results and the number of places available in each program. They become known when offers are generated and confirmed.
Student Total Standard Score (TSS) scores are ordered from highest to lowest for each preference. Offers are made from the top down until all places are filled. The cut-off score is the lowest TSS that qualified for an offer at that point in time.
Cut-off scores can change. This depends on:
- how many students apply and their preferences
- how students perform
- how many places are available
- how many offers are accepted or declined.
Languages program interview cut-off scores
The following table shows the final interview cut-off scores for Languages programs for the 2027 intake. These were the minimum scores needed to be invited to a Languages interview.
Your child must have attended an interview to be considered for a place. An interview does not guarantee an offer. It is the final stage of the selection process.
| School | Year 7 | Year 9 |
|---|---|---|
| Mount Lawley Senior High School | 214.0 | 209.5 |
| Rossmoyne Senior High School | 231.0 | 230.0 |
Note:
- Interviews take place before each round of offers.
- Schools contact families to arrange interviews.
- Students who meet or exceed the cut-off will be invited to interview.
- Offers are based on Total Standard Score (TSS) (80%) and interview (20%).
- These were final interviews for the 2027 intake.
Arts programs
Cut-off scores do not apply to Arts programs.
The Total Standard Score (TSS) is only one part of the Arts assessment and does not decide who moves to the next stage.
Progression is based on performance in the workshop or audition.
Note:
- The TSS contributes 20% of the total Arts score.
- Workshop or audition performance is the main factor.
- Students must attend the workshop or audition to be considered.
Reserve list advice
When Round 2 is complete, we will continue to fill any vacancies remaining or that become available later to students on the reserve list.
Reserve list offers are made as vacancies arise, so there is no set date for these offers. We will continue to fill available places from reserve lists until either:
- all vacancies have been filled
- there are no more suitable applicants
- the placement process closes.
Your child will be automatically included on a program reserve list if they:
- meet the program’s reserve list criteria
- have the program listed as one of their 3 program preferences
- have not previously declined that program or a higher preference program
- have not accepted a higher preference offer with ‘no reserve’.
Arts and Languages program reserve list criteria
Your child will be included on the reserve list for their arts and languages preferences if they progressed to and completed the interview.
Academic program reserve list criteria
Your child will be included on the reserve list for their academic preferences if they achieved a Total Standard Score (TSS) at or above the following benchmarks.

Being included on a reserve list does not guarantee an offer, only that your child will be considered if a vacancy becomes available. If your child qualifies for an offer, it must be accepted or declined within 48 hours.
The 2027 placement process will close on 1 December 2026. Any vacancies that become available after this date will go into the pool for the following intake.
