WA Education Assistance Team Earns Prestigious Award for Outstanding Work

The Ocean Reef Senior High School Education Assistant team has received top honours as the 2024 Australian Teacher Aide Team of the Year.
The nation’s award winning team members play a crucial role in their students’ daily lives, offering targeted support that fosters both academic success and social-emotional well-being.
Their work spans from assisting students in ATAR university entrance courses to helping those in alternative learning pathways like ASDAN, which caters to students who may find the traditional curriculum more challenging.
Within Specialist Learning Program (SLP), the team delivers focused support to students with autism, in their mainstream classes and play an active part in the Very Important Life Skills (VILS) program.
Jay Morris the head of Learning Support at Ocean Reef Senior High School nominated the team was filled with immense pride when the team was announced as the 2024 Australian Teacher Aide Team of the Year.
“This award acknowledges the team’s contribution to fostering an inclusive environment at Ocean Reef Senior High School where every student feels valued and supported. The Education Assistant team is truly deserving of this recognition,” he said.
“What I admire most is their genuine passion for improvement.
“They are always eager to learn, adapt, and grow so they can better support our students.
“Their proactive approach in leading social and emotional programs has had a profound impact, helping students build resilience, confidence, and essential life skills.”
