The future of rodeo is looking bright at Bindoon Primary School, with 10-year-old student Cobb Oversby already making his mark on the sport.

A natural on horseback, Cobb has been competing in rodeo events since he was three years old and has already amassed an impressive collection of titles during his seven years on the rodeo circuit.
“I did the Lead Line Pole Bending and the Lead Line Barrel Race when I was three years old,” Cobb said.
“Now I compete in barrel racing and junior breakaway events.”
Cobb’s talent and dedication have seen him claim two Western Australian titles and an Australian title, including the Junior Barrel Racer Under 11 title at the 2024 Tamworth National Finals.
His latest achievement is arguably one of his most impressive yet though, after he was crowned the 2026 Roebourne Rodeo All-Round Junior Cowboy.
The title is awarded across an age category spanning competitors from eight to 18 years, making Cobb’s victory all the more remarkable.
He secured the title by winning both the barrel racing and calf catching events.
In barrel racing, horse and rider race around three barrels in a cloverleaf pattern, while calf catching requires competitors to lasso a calf while riding on horseback.
For Cobb, the secret to his success is simple.
“I like riding horses and competing against other people,” he said. “I like having fun.”
Cobb will next take to the arena at the Wyalkatchem Rodeo, where he will continue working towards his goal of returning to the National Finals in Tamworth.
With plenty of rodeo experience already under his belt, Cobb is proving that age is no barrier when it comes to chasing big dreams in the arena.
