Performing under the name Worlmiyak, Skye is already attracting industry attention, with a promising future in music ahead.

Her original song ‘We are the people’ was featured on ABC's rage NAIDOC special and was played a second time right after ‘Treaty’, the iconic Australian anthem by Yothu Yindi, was played.

‘We are the people’ also reached the Top 20 in the Outstanding Indigenous category in WAM Song of the Year 2026.

‘We are the people’ celebrates pride in Aboriginal culture and was produced in collaboration with Boss Arts Creative’s Rise Up Program, a First Nations-led initiative that breaks down barriers and encourages First Nations communities to engage in the arts and culture.

Skye began honing her skills in Boss Arts Creative’s Bina Biddi, a training program for emerging Indigenous artists. She then moved on to Rise Up, where she worked with Charley Caruso and Project Bexx to record her song.

She has even filmed a music video at Hen House Studios and Kings Park, surrounded by her family and community.

‘We are the people’ highlights the importance of respecting Elders and maintaining strong cultural connections.

Skye thinks music is a great way to tell stories and share things that have happened.

“You can help people understand how you feel or teach them something new,” she said.

She wanted her stage name to connect to her culture, too.

Worlmiyak, which means ‘sky moon’, has been busy since launching her debut song.

“I searched aboriginal words and decided to include my name and found a word that was related to the sky (the moon). I liked how it sounded and felt an immediate connection to the word,” she said.

“The most exciting things have been meeting so many other people.

“I enjoyed talking to Jeff Michael on Noongar Radio's ‘The Drive’. I also performed my song in Yagan Square, at the Rosemount Hotel and at some NAIDOC events with the other artists I work with.”

Skye appeared on Noongar Radio's ‘The Drive’ to talk about her song.

Kellie Cuff, principal at Boyare Primary School is a fan.

“Skye is extraordinary,” she said.

“Her talent, creativity and confidence are inspiring, and we are especially proud of the way she is using music to celebrate and share her culture with others.

“Skye is a wonderful ambassador for herself, her family, her culture and our school community, and we are delighted to see her receiving such well-deserved recognition.”

Chris Dawson, who was acting principal at Boyare Primary School last term, is a former music teacher who understands that music can be a way for students to dream, have hope for the future or feel heard in how they are feeling here and now.

His pride for Skye shines through.

“Skye really has a unique gift for having such a clear idea of what kind of performer she wants to be at her age,” he said.

“It is so incredible that not only has Skye found a connection to herself and her culture through music, but she also gets to be that voice and connection for others.”

Skye's teachers and friends are excited about the success of Worlmiyak, too.

“They are always so supportive and really believe in Skye,” said Mr Dawson.

“What she has achieved at such a young age is massive, and I am sure that it really helps with her confidence to see others believe in her.

“Singing and writing something from nothing always has so much of yourself in it, that getting support from people around you means so much. I can always tell that Skye and her friends are so proud of what she has achieved.

What’s next for Worlmiyak?

“I am in the middle of the writing process at the moment. I am working on the idea of believing in yourself and the things you can achieve,” she said.
