Pre-service teaching opportunities

Pre-service teachers in the final year of an early childhood, primary, or secondary teaching qualification can apply to teach part-time.

Pre-service teachers in the final year of an early childhood, primary, or secondary teaching qualification can apply to the Pre-Service Teacher Fixed Term Pool. This will allow you to be considered for part-time teaching opportunities in 2026.

If appointed from this pool (up to 0.8 full-time equivalent), you will have access to professional learning and school-based support, as well as study leave if you undertake a professional experience during your appointment. In addition to your salary, allowances will be paid in some locations.

Eligibility criteria

To be eligible to apply you must:

• be eligible to work in Australia
• have a valid Working With Children (WWC) Check 
• be in the final year of an accredited education degree (Bachelor of Education or Master of Teaching) at an Australian university
• have successfully completed one or more professional experience units
• have achieved the test standard for literacy and numeracy in the Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education Students (LANTITE).
