Students and staff at Pingelly Primary School are pre-heating their ovens and prepping their kitchens in a bid to enter the record books.
They will be one of several public schools taking part in the Shire of Pingelly’s Guinness World Record attempt for creating the world’s largest gingerbread village.
The students at Pingelly Primary School are eager to take on the record.
The record attempt will take place on Friday 27 November at the Pingelly Christmas Village event.
The Shire is inviting staff and students from primary and secondary schools from across the state to join in and help to surpass the current record of 1,251 buildings, set in New York in 2017.
Aleah, a student from Pingelly Primary, says students and staff are enthusiastic about the opportunity to take part.
“We think it’s really cool that we get to try out for the world record,” she said.
For the attempt, students will each build a gingerbread house during Term 3, with the Shire of Pingelly supplying all ingredients, templates, and teacher briefing packs to participating schools.
The names of the schools where participants are from will be listed separately in the official Guinness World Records submission.
While the Pingelly students are up to the challenge, they’re hoping others will join in and share the record with them.
“It will be a lovely experience and you will have a good time,” said Leo.
The Shire of Pingelly is looking for more participants to help to reach the record.
