Alternative pathways into teaching
There is more than one way to become a teacher.
Universities provide several different entry points to enable and encourage people to take the first step towards a future career in teaching. These include:
- using TAFE or other qualifications to meet entry requirements
- a bridging course or accelerated entry program
- studying a postgraduate qualification in addition to your undergraduate degree
- completing the Teach For Australia Leadership Development Program.

As part of the 2-year program, associates achieve their Master of Teaching while working as classroom teachers, in the regions and schools where they are most needed. Associates have a reduced teaching load and time for study and professional development. Additional support is provided through a school mentor, academic advisor and a teaching and leadership coach.
To be eligible to apply, you need to hold a Bachelor's degree in a discipline other than education. Find out how to apply from Teach For Australia.
