Strategic directions
Our purpose is clear: Every student, every classroom, every day.
The Western Australian public school system is a major contributor to the State’s prosperity and growth as a fair society promoting the wellbeing and participation of all its citizens. More importantly through its key focus on inclusion, equity and excellence, public schools foster wellbeing and participation of all of its students.
Every student, every classroom, every day, our new strategic directions for public schools 2020-2024 sets clear aspirations for every student and focuses on improvement drivers across six pillars to strengthen support for teaching and learning.
Building on Strength: Future directions for the Western Australian public school system is our long term vision for education over the coming decade. This statement explains the thinking and rationale behind the commitments made in our 2020–2024 strategic directions.
It maintains the momentum for improvement and the spirit of Classroom First by taking further action to strengthen support for teaching and learning excellence. This statement re-affirms the need for students and teachers to be at the centre of our efforts over coming years.
Focus 2022 commits to delivering the Quality Teaching Framework, our shared understanding of what quality teaching looks like. This means that all students belong. They experience success at whatever level they tackle their learning. They have purpose reflected in a desire to follow a calling or pathway. Our horizons in terms of pathways and opportunities have broadened. 2022 is the first year in which all Year 7 students in Western Australia are expected to be learning a language
By focusing on the priorities and aspirations in these directions, we will make a real difference to our students and to the communities we serve across Western Australia.
