Here’s more about the finalists:
Derby District High School
Derby District High School in the Kimberley gives young children a safe and welcoming place to learn through play, stories, language and number activities.
Its early years program helps children build curiosity, confidence and strong relationships, with support for wellbeing and learning.
The school works closely with families, Aboriginal organisations and local health services, including through KindiLink and the Ngunga Women’s Group.
These partnerships help children and families learn together while celebrating culture, language and identity across Derby, Mowanjum and Pandanus Park.
Joondalup Education Support Centre
Joondalup Education Support Centre gives young children a safe and welcoming place to explore, create and learn.
Its early childhood program uses play-based activities to build communication, independence, social skills and confidence.

The school’s inclusive approach helps every student feel they belong and supports them to grow into happy, capable learners.
Kalamunda Primary School
Kalamunda Primary School gives young children a joyful start to learning.
The school values play, curiosity and time outdoors, where children can explore, get messy and learn through real experiences.
Staff track each child’s progress and work closely with families to provide support when needed.
At Kalamunda Primary School, every child is welcomed for who they are, helping build a caring community where difference is valued and everyone can grow.
Oakwood Primary School
Oakwood Primary School puts children at the heart of learning.
From Kindergarten to Year 2, students learn through a mix of clear teaching and purposeful play, with indoor and outdoor spaces designed to build curiosity, confidence and problem-solving skills.
Strong links with families, local childcare providers and specialist services help children feel known, safe and ready to learn.
The school also supports every child’s wellbeing through inclusive practices, early speech and occupational therapy checks, and a sensory space for students who need help to regulate.
Staff work closely together, using student progress data to tailor teaching and build strong foundations in reading, maths and social development.
