We offer training to eligible individuals who would like to start a career as a swim teacher.
To be eligible, you must be:
- a Year 12, university or TAFE student in Western Australia
- at least 17 years old at the time you register for a course or workshop.
Program terms and conditions
To participate in the program, you must agree to:
- register and complete the course requirements. This includes:
- attendance at a face-to-face workshop
- successful completion of the self-paced online learning
- successful completion of workplace training in one of our swimming programs
- apply for a job in one of our swimming programs within 12 months of your face-to-face workshop
- reimburse us $170 for the cost of the course if you don’t apply for swimming instructor jobs with us within 12 months of your face-to-face workshop.
As part of the program participants are:
- funded for registration in one of our swim teacher courses
- funded for registration in one of our CPR courses
- funded for the Department of Education screening requirements (if over 18 years of age)
- reimbursed for the cost of a Working with Children Check (an application can be submitted after completion of an appointment with the Department of Education swimming program).

The 2025 training program is now closed.
The 2026 training program will be launched early next year. The course calendar will be posted in March.
