Four public primary schools have been recognised in the WA Education Awards for enhancing student achievement through teaching and learning excellence.
Campbell Primary School, Karratha Primary School, Warriapendi Primary School, and Winterfold Primary School were named finalists in the excellence in teaching and learning - primary category.
This award acknowledges primary schools that demonstrate collaboration, inclusion and show innovative ways to enhance student achievement and progress.
The winner will be announced at an award presentation event on Monday 17 November.

Campbell Primary School
Campbell Primary School embraces partnerships with family and community, fostering engagement through parent workshops in literacy and numeracy and providing a rich offering of teacher run before-and-after school programs.
The school values inclusivity, with 67% of families speaking a language other than English. This is supported by initiatives such as Ethnic Assistant and translated surveys.
Programs such as The HIVE cater to neurodiverse students, promoting emotional regulation and social skills.
Staff are committed to providing a safe, positive, and supportive learning environment.
Karratha Primary School
Leadership at Karratha Primary School is focused on improving student outcomes through visible, accountable practices and structured data analysis.
Well-resourced, adaptable learning environments, including sensory areas to support self-regulation and readiness to learn, foster a safe and inclusive atmosphere.
Wellbeing programs, such as Zones of Regulation and Friendly Schools Plus, are embedded into daily routines, encouraging self-management skills that underpin academic success.
Investments in literacy and numeracy resources, alongside targeted professional learning, have led to measurable improvements in student outcomes.
Warriapendi Primary School
Warriapendi Primary School serves as a Centre for Excellence in Literacy, mentoring other schools and contributing to broader educational practices.
With 65% of students speaking a language other than English, the school prioritises culturally safe connections.
Partnerships with families and community organisations enhance support, including interpreter access and cultural learning sessions.
By partnering with the on-site Child and Parent Centre, the school addresses barriers early and implements support systems to prepare children for school.
Continuous collaboration and professional development have strengthened teaching quality, leading to significant improvements in student achievement.
Winterfold Primary School
Winterfold Primary School’s commitment to teaching quality is embedded in a cohesive, whole-school approach, fostering a culture of trust, collaboration, and inclusivity.
The school prioritises collaboration with staff and community, connecting families with support and wellbeing services, and running an intergenerational literacy program with local volunteers.
Cultural responsiveness is integrated into leadership practices. The school honours Noongar language and culture through trilingual signage, student-led Acknowledgements of Country, and an inclusive curriculum.
Data-driven practices, with regular reviews and collaborative planning ensure every student’s journey is tracked, celebrated, and supported.
