Work has started on a new inner-city primary school in East Perth after recent development approval of the plans by Development WA.

The public primary school, located on the north-eastern portion of the former Queens Gardens car park site, has a unique, high-quality multi-storey design that is suited to an inner-city context.

Work has started on the new inner-city primary school.

The school, estimated to cost $165 million, is being developed to help cater for Perth's growing inner-city population, also catering for families living in East Perth and Northbridge.

The school will accommodate up to 600 students upon opening and will include:

  • a four-storey teaching block comprising of learning areas and specialist classroom spaces for students in Kindergarten to Year 6
  • a community hall and library
  • administration and staff facilities
  • playing fields and multi-sport courts
  • landscaping works.

Site works have commenced under an initial development approval, and it is expected that the school will open in time for Term 1 2029.

For the first time in 50 years, Perth children will be able to attend a public primary school in the CBD, ensuring inner-city families have access to a high-quality local education close to home.

This multi-storey school has been designed to give students the very best start, with state-of-the-art features including contemporary learning spaces, specialist facilities and areas that support both education and play.
