Cody James, Harriet Kenworthy, and Charlie Moon began their journeys in WA public schools, where teachers say their talent, dedication and character stood out from an early age.
Cody attended Baynton West Primary School, where he embraced every chance to perform.
During a recent visit back to the school, located in Karratha, he reconnected with staff and students, sharing his experiences and inspiring young performers to follow their passions.
His former music teacher, Kym Shepherdson, said his passion for music was clear from the beginning.
“Cody came from a family with a rich musical culture and arrived at Baynton West Primary School with a strong foundation already in place. It was a privilege to work with him,” she said.

“He committed himself to weekly rehearsals with the ukulele club and Beat Busters, proudly performed the National Anthem and school song at assemblies, and embraced every opportunity to be involved in musicals and showcase events each year.
“What Cody is achieving now comes as no surprise.
“The growth we witnessed during his time at Baynton West Primary School clearly set the stage for Australian Idol. It fills me with pride to know I played a small part in his journey.”
Harriet is a member of John Curtin College of the Arts’ Class of 2023. An established talent, she starred in a leading role in the college’s production of Jesus Christ Superstar during her final year at school.

Charlie studied at Applecross Senior High School, where he was remembered as a creative and thoughtful student.
Former teacher Anthony McAndrew recalled Charlie’s artistic strengths and quiet determination.
“He was a lovely, polite and enthusiastic student with an interest in art and design,” he said.
“I remember him as a quiet and steady working student who took pride in his drawing ability.”
This year, WA is represented on the show by the trio, as well as Bunbury teenager John Standley.
Australian Idol is currently viewing on 7plus.
