Gosnells Primary School’s education assistants have been recognised on the national stage in the 2025 Australian Teacher Aide of the Year Awards.
The national awards showcase the dedication and effort of education assistants (also called teacher aides) across Australia and recognise their positive impact on students.

Lead Education Assistant Jenny Brown was named the 2025 Australian Teacher Aide of the Year for her outstanding leadership in strengthening education assistant support across the school. She was nominated by Deputy Principal Michael Everett, who praised her ability to connect teams and ensure every student benefits from well-planned, consistent support.
“Jenny is the linchpin in aligning support staff with teaching teams. Her ability to build effective professional relationships and coordinate targeted support ensures that every student receives cohesive, well-planned assistance,” Mr Everett said.
Ms Brown introduced a structured Peer Shadow Program giving all education assistants the chance to observe inclusive practices and receive coaching in trauma-informed care, behaviour support, and strategies for student independence.
“Jenny has created an enduring, high-impact system that meets students where they are and helps them thrive,” Mr Everett said.
“Her leadership has significantly elevated the quality and consistency of EA led support across the school.”
Ms Brown said that she was shocked when she was announced the winner.
“I cried. There are so many deserving education assistants. I was lost for words which doesn't happen very often to me, I am part of a great team,” she said.
The school’s Specialist Learning Program Education Assistant Team was also recognised as WA’s Team Finalist. Nominated by Program Coordinator Anelise Edkins, the team was commended for their dedication to student learning and wellbeing.
