WA public schools are open to all children from Kindergarten to Year 12. Find more information about enrolling at a public school. 

If a child will be:

• 4 years old by 30 June 2027, parents can enrol them in Kindergarten, which is a pre-compulsory year of education
• 5 years old by 30 June 2027, parents need to enrol them in Pre-primary, which is their first year of compulsory education
• 13 years old by 30 June 2027, parents need to enrol them in Year 7, which is their first year of secondary education.
