Final year pre-service teachers can access the Casual Teacher Pool and Public School Teaching Pathway program to teach in public schools across the state.

Casual Teacher Pool

Pre-service teachers in their final year of study can apply to our Casual Teacher Pool and work in public schools across WA. Casual and relief work can range from 3 hours to 4 weeks depending on your availability.

Eligibility criteria

To become a pre-service casual teacher you must:

Once your Limited Registration is granted by TRBWA you will be given access to the Casual Staff Seeker tool to create a profile and update your availability and preferences. Schools can then contact you regarding casual teaching opportunities.

Teaching opportunities for pre-service teachers - Public School Teaching Pathway program

Public School Teaching Pathway program

The Public School Teaching Pathway program is an employment-based pathway into secondary teaching. Pre-service secondary teachers can complete their final year of study whilst teaching part-time in a public secondary school under the guidance of an experienced school mentor.

Eligibility criteria

To be considered you must:

  • be eligible to work in Australia
  • have a valid Working With Children Check (WWCC)
  • fill in the application form, provide a university letter of endorsement, practicum final assessment report(s), current academic transcripts and two referees.
  • be in your final year of education study at a participating university:
    • Curtin University
    • Edith Cowan University
    • Murdoch University
    • University of Notre Dame Australia
    • University of Western Australia
