Facilities

Your child enjoys living in a modern, comfortable and well-equipped residential college that meets all their accommodation, study and recreational needs.

Accommodation

Your child has their own reverse cycle air conditioned bedroom that includes a single or king single bed, a desk for studying, shelves for books and personal items, a bedside table, a built-in wardrobe and a safe for their personal valuables. As it is your child’s personal space while at the College, we encourage them to decorate it with their own doona, photos and personal items.

Male students are accommodated in a different section of the College to female students. We have a very strict policy of male students not entering the girls’ area and vice versa.

All sleeping accommodation is alarmed and monitored by supervisors. Supervisors are accessible 24/7 with internal telephone system in the staff accommodation. CCTV in common areas of the College helps to keep students safe.

Common rooms

At the College, we have small lounge rooms near bedrooms; as well as a large recreation area where all of the students can socialise. We encourage your child to spend time with their friends and play games, watch movies, listen to music and hang out.

Students have a large dining room for eating breakfast, lunch and dinner, and completing their homework and study.

Your child also has access to computers in common room for completing homework, doing research and writing assignments, if they do not wish to use their own laptop.

Recreation

Your child has access to a range of recreational facilities. The College has a swimming pool; a recreation room with a pool table, table tennis and television; a tennis courts, basketball and netball court, indoor basketball court in our recreation shed, practice cricket nets and a fully equipped gym.

Transport

Merredin Residential College owns three buses. Supervisors use these vehicles to transport students to sport, medical and academic commitments and for travelling on regular weekend activities.

All of our supervisors are fully qualified to operate the bus.

For an hour on Wednesday afternoons and two hours on Saturday mornings, junior students are transported to/from town. Older students can walk if they wish and have two hours on both days.

Access to school

The residential college is located in the town of Merredin. Students walk to and from Merredin College. It takes them less than five minutes.

Students are transported to/from school if it is too hot or raining.
