The Employee Performance and Development policy and procedures are directed at building a high performance, high care culture across the Department through a focus on improvement. The Department is one of the few government agencies providing secure parking for staff and visitors. Parking facilities provided to Department staff are considered to be a privilege and not an entitlement.

Teachers and school psychologists have requirements and responsibilities in relation to maintaining professional registration with the respective regulatory bodies (Teacher Registration Board of Western Australia, Psychology Board of Australia) as a condition of their contract of employment.

This policy assists teachers with protecting and informing students and parents in their use of online services.

Access to Department online services and Department owned devices is provided to assist the Department in achieving its goals. The Department expects employees to use these resources in an ethical, legal, appropriate and acceptable manner.

Animals can enrich students’ learning experiences, however schools must adhere to consistent and high quality practices for the care and use of animals. Staff are to adhere to the processes of the Schools Animal Ethics Committee for the use of animals for any scientific teaching activity and/or adhere to the processes of Agricultural Education for the use of animals on school farms.

This policy and procedures outlines for all employees of the Department of Education to follow when travelling on a trip authorised by the Department.

These procedures apply to all principals and college managers. They support the Visitors and Dignitaries at Public Schools and Residential Facilities policy.

School facilities can be made available for community use. Applications must be approved by the principal and formalised by an agreement signed by the principal and a representative of the user group.
