Your child has their own reverse cycle air-conditioned bedroom that includes a single or king single bed, a desk for studying, shelves for books and personal items, a bedside table, a built-in wardrobe and a safe for their valuables.

We encourage students to decorate their personal space with their own doona, photos and personal items.

There are separate accommodation areas, based on gender and divided further by year group where possible. All sleeping accommodation is alarmed and monitored by supervisors. Supervisors are accessible at all hours with an internal telephone system in the staff accommodation. CCTV in common areas of the college helps to keep students safe.

We have small lounge rooms as well as a large recreation area where students can socialise. We encourage your child to spend time with friends and play games, watch movies, listen to music and hang out. 

Students have a large dining room for eating breakfast, lunch and dinner. They can also use the room to complete their homework and study.

There are computers in the common room for completing homework, doing research and writing assignments.

Your child has access to a range of recreational facilities. The college has a recreation room with air hockey and pool tables, table tennis and television.

Outside, we have a shaded swimming pool, tennis court, basketball and netball courts.

In our recreation shed, we have an indoor basketball court, cricket nets and a fully equipped gym.

We have 3 buses which we use to transport students to sport, medical and academic commitments and for weekend activities. All supervisors are fully qualified to drive the buses.

For an hour on Wednesday afternoons and 2 hours on Saturday mornings, junior students are transported to and from town. Older students can walk if they wish and have 2 hours to visit town on both days.

Students walk to and from Merredin College. The walk takes less than 5 minutes. Students are transported to and from school if it is too hot or raining.

Students are not permitted to drive personal vehicles while boarding at the college. Students must have supervisor and parental permission to ride in other people's personal vehicles and the driver must be an adult. A student with a current driver’s licence may only drive their personal vehicle to travel between home and the college with supervisor and parent approval, and keys are surrendered to supervisors during their stay.

Your child may be eligible for subsidised travel for their trips between home and the college. Subsidised travel provides up to 4 return trips from your home address to the college, one for each term. The college can provide bus transport to transfer students between the college and the train station. We support students to book bus transfers once they arrive at the college, for example, should they need to travel home for the weekend. We need at least one day’s notice to organise a bus transfer.
