Students and staff members from John Forrest Secondary College raised more than $11,000 for the Leukaemia Foundation in the school’s first World’s Greatest Shave event.
A John Forrest Secondary College student faced the razor in the school’s first World’s Greatest Shave event.
Two teachers and five students braved the razor to go completely bald, while others opted for a haircut or colour treatment to support Australians battling blood cancer.
The highlight of the event came when a pair of students offered to sacrifice their eyebrows for the cause, with science teacher Thanh Tu generously donating $200 to make it happen.
Catherine Lucas, a social studies teacher at John Forrest Secondary College, said she was proud to see the school’s student leaders step in to organise the event, which raised a total of $11,250 for the Leukaemia Foundation.
“The student leaders at the college created the proposal as they are passionate about giving back to the Leukaemia Foundation,” she said.
“It is a cause close to their hearts.
“The students organised, ran and marketed the event.
“We are extremely proud of how the whole college community came together to support a great event and cause.”
