The Competency Framework for Teachers remains a source of reference whilst schools transition to the mandated use of Australian Professional Standards for Teachers as the prime reference for teachers ’registration, self-reflection, professional learning, performance management and development, and recruitment.

These procedures ensures that employees are aware of their obligations under the Working With Children Check (Criminal Record Checking) Act 2004 (the Act) and ensures that the Department maintains compliance with the Act.

This procedure outlines health and safety training requirements, reporting hazards and incidents, conducting investigations at workplaces, information about health and safety representatives and committees, and issue resolution relating to work health and safety within the Department of Education. Schools and residential facilities need to have appropriate security measures in place to protect school property and ensure a safe and secure environment for staff and students. A variety of approaches are needed for implementation of effective security.

Public School excursions are undertaken to further students’ learning and social skills development outside their normal school environment. Activities conducted outside the relatively protective environment of the school site involve greater risk. Therefore particular attention must be given to the safety and welfare of all excursion participants.
