The principal or college manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of a public school or residential facility, including providing for the safety and welfare of students, staff and visitors on the site.

This policy determines the provision and administration of housing for Department of Education employees deployed to a regional location.

The School Education Act 1999 requires all enrolled student to attend school or participate in an educational program of the school. Principals are required to record and monitor student attendance and develop appropriate strategies to restore attendance for students with persistent absence.

A secondment is the voluntary placement for a defined period, with the requirement that the employee returns to their substantive position on completion. The Department of Education supports secondment for staff development.

Information and communication technologies are provided by the Department to enable employees and authorised third parties to satisfactorily perform their duties. It is recognised that the associated information, physical equipment, infrastructure and software is at risk of accidental or intentional loss, unauthorised manipulation or unauthorised disclosure. This policy authorises security controls to address those risks.

The Curriculum Assessment and Reporting in Public Schools Policy and Procedures set out the requirements that schools need to meet in planning their curriculum, assessment and reporting practices. The Policy and Procedures are aligned to the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline.

This Schedule provides the endorsement and approvals required to meet the minimum requirements of the Procurement Act 2020 (WA), General Procurement Directions and the Western Australian Procurement Rules (WAPR) when procuring goods, services and community services, or disposing of goods.
