This policy provides procedures and advice for the enrolment of students in public schools.

The Curriculum Assessment and Reporting in Public Schools Policy and Procedures set out the requirements that schools need to meet in planning their curriculum, assessment and reporting practices. The Policy and Procedures are aligned to the Western Australian Curriculum and Assessment Outline.

The Employee Performance and Development policy and procedures are directed at building a high performance, high care culture across the Department through a focus on improvement. The procedures specify, for all groups of employees, a procedurally fair approach that balances development requirements with accountability, in accordance with the role being performed.

The procedures outline the requirements for staff in residential facilities to ensure the safety and well-being of students during leisure activities.

The School Education Act 1999 requires all enrolled student to attend school or participate in an educational program of the school. Principals are required to record and monitor student attendance and develop appropriate strategies to restore attendance for students with persistent absence.

This policy assists staff to respond appropriately where there is a concern for a child’s wellbeing or a disclosure of abuse.

School facilities can be made available for community use. Applications must be approved by the principal and formalised by an agreement signed by the principal and a representative of the user group.

The Department is one of the few government agencies providing secure parking for staff and visitors. Parking facilities provided to Department staff are considered to be a privilege and not an entitlement.
