Years 11 and 12

Years 11 and 12

In Year 10, your child will need to make choices about what to study in their final two years of school.

Helping your child as they navigate the many options available to them in Years 11 and 12 can be challenging.

Encouraging your child to consider all the subjects and programs that align with their interests, will help them reach their goal – whether that be university, training or employment – and prepare them for an exciting future.

Employers now expect graduates to have more than a qualification and academic success. Many now seek employees who have specific values, behaviours and enterprise skills.

The workforce is changing

The things they will need to consider when choosing a pathway is evolving. Leaving school with a single career destination is disappearing. It is now anticipated that young people will have around 17 jobs across five careers in their lifetime.

This means your child will need to become a lifelong learner – moving between work, training and higher education – throughout their working life.

This new world of work is going to provide exciting opportunities for your child. It is important that your child has access to a range of pathways to further education and training, and to explore these pathways while at school.
