In a career spanning 33 years, mostly in rural and remote settings, Karen has focussed on strengthening our education system to ensure every child is taught by a skilled teacher.
Spending a significant amount of time working in a regional office inspired Karen to seek a career path as a school principal. She places a high value on developing professional learning communities, ensuring staff have a collective responsibility for all children.
Having an innovative mindset, Karen turns possibilities into reality, including employing an occupational therapist to develop and implement a preventative occupational therapy program across the school. Under her leadership innovation is evident through shared expectations, accountability, empowerment and trust.
In her change project, Karen studied a whole cluster approach to forming strong relationships with the community before their children enter school in Kindergarten.
