1. Policy statement

The Department of Education (The Department) implements security measures to create a safe environment for staff, students, parents, volunteers and visitors, and to protect school property.

2. Policy rules

Principals must implement security measures in accordance with the School Security for Public Schools Procedures.

Guidance

The Department’s Security and Emergency Management Section provides support, advice and consultancy to principals or their nominees on security-related issues.

3. Responsibility for Implementation and Compliance

Principals are responsible for implementation of the policy.

Line managers are responsible for compliance monitoring.

4. Scope

This policy applies to principals.
