About the Awards

The WA Education Awards provide many opportunities for reflection, acknowledgement and celebration.

This year is special as we celebrate 10 years of shining the light on the remarkable people in our State who change the lives of children and young people.

The awards recognise people contributing to providing every child in Western Australia with a high quality education – whatever their ability, wherever they live, whatever their background.

Nominations for the awards can be submitted by Department of Education staff, chairs of school boards/councils, and presidents of parents and citizens’ associations.

Nominations are assessed by panels for each award category that include academic experts in relevant areas of teaching and education research, members of professional associations in the areas of education and leadership, sponsors who are committed to public education, past winners who bring their experience, and senior Department staff.

The panels assess each nomination against the award category nomination criteria and select four finalists. Two panel members will then visit each finalist to speak with them, school staff, students, parents and referees to help determine winners.

Professional development prize money will be awarded to finalists and winners of the award categories. This will not only benefit the individual professionally, but also the school and more importantly, the students.

All finalists will receive an invitation to the WA Education Awards presentation dinner to be held on Friday 24 November 2017 at Crown Perth.

Ticket sales are now closed.
