Secondary schooling scholarships

Give your child the best opportunities to succeed

The Department is committed to helping children succeed in school. As part of this we coordinate a number of financial scholarships, grants and prizes for young people in secondary school so they can focus on achieving their educational goals. 

Below is a list of our current secondary schooling scholarships, grants and prizes with their respective values and eligibility requirements. Applications open Term 4 each year towards the end of October. 

All scholarships are considered by a selection committee, and all applications (except for the P&N Bank Scholarship and the Olive A Lewis Scholarship) must be submitted online.

Applicants must attend Kent Street Senior High School, Como Secondary College or Cannington Community College.

Students must be in Year 10 or Year 11 and under 18 years of age when they apply, and be continuing towards their Western Australian Certificate of Education. This scholarship may be renewed for a second year provided satisfactory academic and general progress has been made.

Applicants must be public school students currently completing Year 10 and continuing towards their Western Australian Certificate of Education. This scholarship may be renewed for a second year provided satisfactory academic and general progress has been made.

Applicants must be living in Fremantle, currently completing Year 10 and continuing towards their Western Australian Certificate of Education. The prize is a one-off payment paid at the start of Year 11 for study in any recognised public or private secondary school in Western Australia.

Applicants must attend, or plan to attend, a public secondary school located further than 65 kilometres from Perth.

Applicants currently finishing primary school or attending secondary school can apply.

  • Value: $750 (for Years 7 to 10) and $1 000 (for Years 11 and 12)

Applicants must be students with a parent who:

  • has a disability that impairs their capacity to work (specifically a spinal cord injury resulting in paralysis, or a significant limb loss or permanent loss of limb function).
  • is a financial member of the Spine and Limb Foundation Inc. 

Grants may be renewed in subsequent years, provided satisfactory academic and general progress has been made.

This scholarship is available to students who are selected to participate in a Gifted and Talented Secondary Selective Entrance Academic Program in Year 7, 8, 9 or 10.

These scholarships support students with their studies towards their Western Australian Certificate of Education, and are available to public or private school students currently in Year 10, for their studies in Year 11. 

Academic excellence scholarship

Applicants are assessed on academic achievement and extracurricular activities. This scholarship is for students who are P&N Bank members or whose parents/carers or grandparents are P&N Bank members. 

Flourish scholarship

Applicants are assessed on the degree to which they show evidence of flourishing in one of more areas of study in spite of a particular challenge they have faced. This scholarship is for students who are P&N Bank members or whose parents/carers or grandparents are P&N Bank members.

Power of & scholarship

Applicants are assessed on the extent of direct or indirect volunteering activities they have undertaken for the benefit of Western Australian individuals or the community for no financial reward. Membership of P&N Bank is not a requirement for this scholarship.
