WA Public Secondary Schools' Solo Vocal Festival

Date: Sunday 5 November 2024.

Venue: Churchlands Senior High School.

Eligibility: This festival is open to students enrolled in Years 8, 9 and 10 music courses in Western Australian public schools. Students must be studying singing voice with a teacher provided by Instrumental Music School Services. The 3 sections are:

  • Classical/Folk
  • Music Theatre
  • Jazz/Contemporary

Participants may perform in one section only. Participants may perform only one song in their nominated section.

Tickets: There is no charge for audience entry to this festival.

This is a non-competitive event. There will be no percentage gradings. Each participant will receive a report on their performance.

Backing tracks are permitted for participants in the Jazz/Contemporary and Music Theatre sections. Tracks are not to include backing vocals.

Duration of songs may not exceed 4 minutes.

Participants must state on the application form the title and composer of the song they intend to perform in the section entered. A different song will not be accepted.

Photocopies of songs for the adjudicator are to be handed in prior to the start of each section. These copies will not be returned. Participants will need an additional copy of music for their accompanist.

Participants are encouraged to use their own accompanist for Music Theatre and Classical/Folk sections. An accompanist is available for participants who are unable to provide their own, please make sure you complete the application form correctly if you require an accompanist.

Members of the audience are to be seated prior to the start of each section.

Participants must be warmed up and seated in the venue prior to the start of each section. Warm-up facilities will be available.
