The WA Education Awards recognises inspiring teachers, outstanding principals, excellent support staff and successful schools.

Assessment process

Nominations are assessed by panels for each award category that include academic experts in relevant areas of teaching and education research; members of professional associations in the areas of education and leadership; sponsors who are committed to public education; past winners who bring their experience; and senior Department staff.

The panels will meet between Wednesday 5 June and Friday 21 June 2019 to assess each nomination against the award category nomination criteria and select four finalists.

Once the finalists are announced, two members from each judging panel will visit each finalist at their school to speak with them, school staff, students, parents and referees to help determine winners. Site visits will be held between Monday 29 July and Friday 9 August 2019.

Referees may be contacted by the judges at any time during the judging process.

Professional development prize money will be awarded to finalists and winners of the award categories. This will not only benefit the individual professionally, but also the school and more importantly, the students.
