“School leadership means a relentless focus on engagement with the wider community; developing staff skills in evidence-based teaching; and promoting a whole school culture of teaching excellence.”

Wayne Walpole

Principal
Armadale Primary School

Wayne brings a long-term vision, strategic thinking, analytical skills and a commitment to maximising the educational outcomes of all students in his care. He has developed a community of educational professionals, valuing and respecting the diversity of skills and knowledge each person brings to the school. His experience spans a range of educational contexts in many metropolitan and country schools.

In his current role, as principal advisor at Statewide Services, he has undertaken significant work to provide advice, support and mentoring in leadership development, school improvement planning, data analysis and curriculum delivery to many schools across the State.

Wayne’s change project investigated the research behind why schools should adopt a strategic approach to the implementation of general capabilities in the Western Australian curriculum to prepare students for their future at and beyond school.
