Stuart has significant knowledge and experience leading schools across all sectors of the Department, particularly in the area of disability.

He has built on his 13 years as Principal of Durham Road School, undertaking leadership roles within the Independent Public Schools initiative, Principal Professional Support team and as Principal of the Schools of Special Educational Needs: Sensory and Disability.

Stuart’s outstanding leadership was a critical factor in the success of the first specialist learning program. He developed the operational framework and supported primary and secondary schools through implementation.

Stuart has a strong commitment to helping schools meet student needs. To this effect, Stuart focuses on the empowerment of teachers in classrooms and sensible workplace reform that enables classroom focussed cultures.

In his change project, Stuart explored strategic alignment between student characteristic funding and school improvement intentions that address the targeted needs of students.
