“My strength is in building cultures of action in schools and developing community partnerships.”

Maxine Augustson

Principal, Mount Lockyer Primary School

Maxine’s leadership has embedded an ethos of collaboration and improvement at Mount Lockyer Primary School. She is respected by students, staff, colleagues and the community in building a culture of action.

Passionate about supporting Aboriginal families, Maxine’s strong, respectful and authentic partnership with the Aboriginal community led to the development of a school community partnership agreement. She mentored the committee that oversees the agreement to become self-governing and it now operates with the school to provide valuable direction and advice.

Maxine played a key role in the Australian Curriculum F-10 Work Samples Project, providing resources for teachers to moderate student work and delivering high level action learning for teachers.

She develops an informed and highly effective staff, participating with teachers through a cycle of monitoring student achievement by setting targets and undertaking collaborative planning.

The school was included in the More Support for Students with Disabilities Strategy, which resulted in a refined and effective method of planning, monitoring and reporting Individual education plans for students.
