Dowerin District High School (DHS) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Year 5/6 teacher who is able to deliver an innovative and dynamic teaching program which capitalises on a range of instructional strategies to engage all learners.
The successful applicant will have a strong, evidence based teaching approach, and the knowledge and ability to implement the Western Australian Curriculum with proven effective practices in developing students’ literacy and numeracy skills. This person will be collaborative in their approach and willing to work along-side curriculum leaders and support staff in the delivery of engaging programs of learning. They will pursue excellence in classroom teaching; assessment of and for learning will form a key part of this, and provide encouragement and support to their colleagues.
The Year 5/6 teacher will create a supportive and welcoming classroom environment that fosters excellence, cooperation, growth mindset and resilience. They will guide students to work constructively with others and to be critical and creative problem solvers. Building positive and productive working relationships with parents and the wider community is considered an essential component to meet this end.
To be successful in this position you will be highly organised and have excellent written and oral communication skills. Additionally, you will have the ability to work effectively as part of a team. We want teachers who can teach students operating at multiple levels of competence and differentiate the curriculum to extend the learning of all students. We want teachers who are resilient and will meet the daily challenges of teaching.
Dowerin DHS, an Independent Public School since 2013, is also a Regional Teacher Development School for Mathematics and Science. This selection process will initially be used to fill the above vacancy. Applicants assessed as suitable during this selection process may be considered for other similar vacancies that occur throughout our school for up to 12 months following this initial appointment. This includes circumstances where this position becomes subsequently vacant should the successful applicant decline or vacate the advertised position.

ELIGIBILITY
Employees will be required to:

TRAINING
Employees will be required to:
- complete the Department’s induction program within three months of commencement; and
- complete any training specific to this role required by Departmental policy.
The Department applies a four (4) day breach period to this selection process.
