Engagement centres

The support provided by engagement centres help improve the engagement and behaviour of students.

While the vast majority of students are engaged in schooling and behave well, it is estimated that between one and two per cent of students might require intensive engagement and behaviour support at some point in their schooling.

The three key components of our support include:

  • a new, small and specialised school specifically designed to meet the learning needs of severely disengaged secondary students
  • 12 existing behaviour centres replaced with engagement centres and two new engagement centres set up in the Kimberley and Wheatbelt
  • all current support related to student engagement and behaviour being united into one Statewide service.
