The WA Education Awards recognises inspiring teachers, outstanding principals, excellent support staff and successful schools.
Nominations are assessed by panels for each award category that include academic experts in relevant areas of teaching and education research; members of professional associations in the areas of education and leadership; sponsors who are committed to public education; past winners who bring their experience; and senior Department staff.
The panels will meet between Monday 2 July and Friday 3 August 2018 to assess each nomination against the award category nomination criteria and select four finalists.
Once the finalists are announced, two members from each judging panel will visit each finalist at their school to speak with them, school staff, students, parents and referees to help determine winners. Site visits will be held between Monday 13 August and Friday 24 August 2018.
Referees may be contacted by the judges at any time during the judging process.
Professional development prize money will be awarded to finalists and winners of the award categories. This will not only benefit the individual professionally, but also the school and more importantly, the students.
